Dr. Stasny

Kim Stasny has a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Leadership from the University of New Orleans, an M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a BA in Elementary Education from Millsaps College. She has invested 28 years in education as a teacher, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent.

Dr. Stasny was named Superintendent of the Year [2007] by the Mississippi Association of School Administrators. She was recognized and praised by Governor Barbour in his State of the State Address [2006] and in his address to the Senate Homeland Security Committee [2007]. She was recognized as a "Local Leader and Hero" by the mayor and city council of Bay St. Louis for her achievements in bringing the school system back to life after Hurricane Katrina.

Dr. Stasny has been featured in Gulf Coast Woman, and recognized in the American School Board Journal Special Report, Mississippi Professional Education Journal, and the Southwest Educational Development Laboratory Letter. She has been innterviewed on Good Morning America, MSNBC, and the Today Show.

Dr. Stasny's school district has been commended by the state for its fixed asset management, for meeting state deadlines, for supporting arts in the schools, and for its safety record. She serves on the Sun Herald Business Advisory Board, the Govornor's Commission on Recovery, Rebuilding, Renewal Workforce Development,and the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce. She was instrumental in starting the county's first Boys and Girls Club and served both on its board and in the efforts of its fund raising committee.

Dr. Stasny has testified before the U.S. Senate Committe on Appropriations, a congressional delgation header by Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and participated in a small, round table discussion with President Bush.


 

Dr. Rebecca Ladner currently serves as Assistant Superintendent for the Bay-Waveland School District overseeing curriculum, instruction and assessment.  Dr. Ladner received her doctorate in education from USM in 2004.  Dr. Ladner previously served as principal of Waveland Elementary for 5 years, and as a teacher in the Gulfport School District for 6 years. 


Dr. Ladner remains in direct contact with the Mississippi state board of education in January of 2005 in support of relocating the Teacher Support Team to regular education department instead of special education.


Dr. Ladner served on the writing team that developed the training for the module “Teacher Support Teams:  Three Tier Intervention Process” and has conducted many workshops on the process.  She has received requests to conduct the training from many districts, and has worked with the Gulf Coast Education Initiative Consortium bring this important training to many educators along the Gulf Coast.
